It's Lisa Jardine calling with your Tuesday talk mail. 

For September and October, we will continue our focus: Be Safe. One of the ways we learn to be safe is to practice a fire drill. We had our first fire drill last week and I am proud to say that the whole school evacuated safely in under 2 minutes!

Fire drills are what we do to practice getting outside of the school safely. A lockdown is what we practice to teach the children how to stay inside the school safely. With this age, we talk about how we need to practice a lockdown in case an animal, like a deer, ever came inside of the school, and students had to wait in their classrooms until the animal is removed. We will be practicing our school lockdown next week.

Hot lunch forms went home yesterday and are due on Thursday.  Our preferred method of payment for hot lunch is paying online, however, we can offer a cash payment option. Please return the hot lunch envelope that was sent home with your child this week and indicate whether, moving forward, you will be ordering online, or whether you will require an envelope for future hot lunch orders. This way, we will only copy the number of envelopes needed and save time and money.

This Thursday, our Home and School Committee is meeting at the school at 6:00pm. Everyone is welcome!

And finally, a reminder that there is no school for students this Friday, September 22, as all staff are involved in professional learning.
